The legend

Polidoro and Romilda

The ancient stones of Torre Polidori keep a secret: that of Polidoro and Romilda, a love story born amid the care of a field hospital and broken by jealousy.

It is said that the soldier, saved by his bride's devotion, later let himself be blinded by a dark passion, locking Romilda within these walls. But her soul — free as the carrier pigeons she loved — vanished into nothing, leaving behind only the scent of mystery and the silence of a flight toward freedom.

“Her soul — free as the carrier pigeons she loved — vanished into nothing, leaving behind only the scent of mystery and the silence of a flight toward freedom.”

From the legend of Torre Polidori

The tower today

A place where medieval authenticity and comfort coexist

Catia, the current owner, has managed to turn the Tower into something rare: a place where medieval authenticity and contemporary comfort coexist without one sacrificing the other.

The three rooms have been created with care, respecting every corner of the original structure — high ceilings, completely new bathrooms, modern finishes and latest-generation systems, including thermal windows with low-emissivity glass. Every room has a TV and full furnishing with a desk, mirror and wardrobe.

The property has a private covered car park with two spaces for the exclusive use of guests, also reachable via escalators and a lift. Torre Polidori is ideal for couples on a romantic escape, families and business travellers — and small to medium pets are welcome.

Where we are

In the heart of Orvieto, steps from everything

The Tower stands on Via Loggia dei Mercanti, one of the main streets of Orvieto's old town — steps from the Duomo, the Palazzo del Capitano del Popolo, the Torre del Moro, the Pozzo della Cava and St. Patrick's Well, and the Teatro Mancinelli. Staying at Torre Polidori means breathing in this echo, in one of Italy's most intact and captivating historic towns — an easy base for reaching Assisi, Perugia, Todi, Civita di Bagnoregio, Rome and Florence.
